Humanities
This semester our project revolved around the question how our present is affected by our past? We looked at immigration stories and history to help us understand this question. Then we looked at OUR own stories to really answer this question. We wrote our own narratives answering this complex question, and we all dug deep to produce of a completed narrative, scripting it and later turning it into an individual completed podcast.

Here is one a link to one of my first drafts of my narratives. It has yet to be scripted and throughly critiqued. All together we went through 3-4 drafts before recording our pieces.
Listen to my full podcast here! This is the end product after several weeks of writing, editing, and perfecting.

Field trips!
When I Was Puerto Rican!
When I Was Puerto Rican was an amazing memoir to read that tied into our principle question we were trying to answering in our lives, how is our present affected by our future? It followed a young girl, Esmeralda and her coming to age story in a raw, honest and beautifully messy way. I found myself really enjoying this book and very emotionally invested. I would recommend this book to anyone, I believe everyone can finish reading this book and get something out of it. We also had weekly socratic seminars on the chapters and tracked our discussion, as you can see down below.
Biology and Environmental Science
Our project in Biology consisted of us breaking into groups and being assigned a tank to care for and conduct and experiment on. We learned a lot of fish husbandry skills and lessons as a scientist, you can read more about how my experiments went on our tanks website. We also created a scientific poster together, which we exhibited at Birch Aquarium, you can also see how this poster resulted in the link bellow to our poster.
Field Trips!
San Diego ZoO
This field trip was one of favorites! We walked throughout the entire park, taking pictures with all the animals to complete a scavenger hunt. We then got to go behind the scenes and see their labs , and even preform an experiment ourselves!

Safari Park
This field trip was incredibly fun! We walked throughout the park and it was my first time here. We learned a lot throughout completing a handout while walking around.

SeaWorld
Sea World was a memorable field trip for sure. We walked throughout the park and completed a scavenger hunt, taking pictures with all kind of animals. At one point we split up into groups and got to see more behind the scenes kind of things , which is always my favorite.

Birch Aquarium
Birch aquarium was the smallest place we went on a field trip for sure but it was one of the more relaxing and enjoyable ones at the same time. All the exhibits inspired me and were amazing. They had this specific exhibit- the kelp forest, and I sat in front of it for more than 20 minutes, in awe. It was beautiful and really left me speechless.
